If you are getting an error that says "Pixel shader" or really Pixel anything not supported then follow this advice before asking in support it will save you time and trouble:

    1. Determine what video card you have: To do this on windows 3.11 through windows 7 go to start then the Run command (search on windows 7). Type Dxdiag and hit enter. When the new window opens and finishs loading go to the display tab. near the top there will be a part that says "Name:" followed by something like Intel r GMX or ATI Radeon.

----- If it says Intel anything you have less than a 5% chance of EVER getting starmade to work because only the absolute newest Intel video cards support OpenGL graphics and not even all of them. Almost none of them support OpenGL 2. This means starmade will not run.

----- If it says ATI or Geforce. Update your video Drivers at the respective websides of ATI.com or Nvidea.com

----If it says anything else you may have an off brand or some obscure video card. Update the video driver at the manufacturers website if possible. However there is no garantee it will work. Offbrand and Obscure video cards may or may not support OpenGL graphics and if they dont starmade will never work.

    2. Click Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs (Programs and Features on Vista and windows 7). When the new window Opens look for Java in the list. if it is anything other than Java 7 update 40 then you will need to go to Oracle.com and update Java. NOTE: Java commonly does not update properly and will instead install a second copy so you will have Java 6 for example and Java 7 both. You will need to uninstall the earlier versions leaving only Java 7 build 40.

    3. Delete Starmade-starter.exe and the Starmade folder. Then redownload Starmade-starter.exe and run it. Update then try to play starmade.
