Personal weapon new feature

    I believe that a small feature to the personal weapon be implemented to supplement the abilities of boarding parties on larger ships. This feature would allow personal weapons to completely or almost completely bypass shields when firing on the ship core (and only the ship core) if the mass of the ship is above a certain value (say 300 or 400). However the personal weapon would NOT be allowed to cause a ship core overheat, it would only allow the untimely death of the ships pilot. This mechanic would encourage the useful placement of a ships core rather than just anywhere near the back of the ship for larger ships but would not penalise smaller ships like fighters from having exposed cores.

    I agree, personal weapons should not damage the ships and should not trigger shield hit either.

    It\'s a start, but still leaves the door issue... either make them blastable with weapons or other kind of weapon... sci-fi equivalent of C4 explosive that CAN damage the ship and blow holes through walls ?

    That kind of weapons could mean one thing... a special weapon inventory that you can only hold a specific amount of weapons... like in any shooter, a primary, a secondary, and some equipament... explosives in this case and each person can hold 1 max C4 thingie to blow up 1 door... or wall... so the bigger the ship, the bigger the crew required to succesfully infiltrate.



    However, I could see how this can get spammy... immagine a huge corridor that is literally filled with plexidoors, which means you must literally dig through a very very tough wall... in that case there should be alternatives... like hacking the door controls in some way.

    The blasting a hole in the side of a ship or wall is already impletmented into the game, the dis-integrator block. If the hand held weapons are implemented all you would need to do is put a few of those blocks on the surface of the ship or base wall and blast it with your gun. They might have to tweek it a little so it sticks to walls even though they are of another faction or place a option to turn them into bombs with timers. Hacking doors is not really a good idea cause that would take a lot of codding on the dev teams part and shema doesn\'t want to add to much complicated things into the game until it\'s more stable (Out of alpha). Besides in the movies when multiple doors are closed the invading crew doesn\'t have any other option but to blast their way out, hacking takes too long. There are a few threads out their that talk about raiding parties, forced boarding, or other things you would just need to look for them.
