Personal Permissions

    Some people seem to be creating one-man factions because joining another faction would result in idiots in that faction being able to access (steal from) their storages, and edit (fuck up) their ships and stations... There's an obvious, and fairly simple, way to stop this - Personal permissions.

    Have the faction module replaced with a generic Permissions Module, which can be configured to allow access to everyone, an entire faction, a rank or ranks within the faction, or one or more users.

    Make it a choice of pre-sets from the owner.

    Deleting a pre-set should ask which other to replace it with or to abandon X ships with names {x, y, z, ...} associated with this pre-set would allow to apply changes quickly to all your assets.


    I think setting permissions should be easy. Enforcing permissions should require additional blocks (like a faction restriction module rather than a faction-permission :))

    Oh, I might as well note that Permission Modules should work by linking, not by adjacency, while we're on the subject of permissions, and they should also be configureable. For instance, the AIS Eser-Kalan might be restricted to me, all corridor doors and the mess hall doors would be accessible by anyone, and the crew quarters could each be accessible by their one or two occupants. Likewise, the Avar-Kiaan might be faction-restricted, but anyone could use the doors that go between the Shuttlebay and the Crew Deck, and certain doors on the crew deck. However, only I (and possibly some significant other) could enter the Captain's Quarters.

    ...Also, they should be logic-toggleable, allowing a lockdown mode, among other things.

    But link-able would cause some problems such as that some things only link to one other.
