Ores, Capsules, and Refineries Oh My!

In the recent updates we've seen the introduction of ores, shards, capsules and refineries, however there are no instructions on how to use them or what they do. The refinery block is particularly strange as I cannot figure out how to make it do anything. After a google search, and some scrounging on the forums and wikis , I don't think I'm the only one. It would be nice if one of the admins/creators/staff could give us a thorough breakdown of what these new blocks do.

Yeah, I know, but how do I use what is available now? Also, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to find in that link.

It's not complete, so there is nothing to make, learn or use yet in any stable or practical capacity.

When it is ready and working, i'm sure there will be a news post explaining it all.
