TL;DR: Add a binaural sound option to the starmade launcher, for headphone users. It's a simple OpenAL ini option!

Long version: Headphones are great for the money, but unlike speakers, the L/R channels are completely isolated from each other. Due to the (amazing) way the human brain actually processes/interprets sound, headphones sound un-natural when dealing with 3D audio.

    How the brain processes sound:

With headphones, this natural interpretation of a sound's source is impossible. Fortunately, OpenAL can magically hook into the game, process the sound and simulate the phase shift/revurb effect to create much more natural 3D sounds! The Minecraft community figured out how to enable it awhile ago:

As you can see, 1 line in an ini file can get you more realistic sound! This doesn't just help with immersion, it gives pilots a tactical advantage as well.

Could we get a HRTF option in the Starmade launcher? Is it possible, or is the config option outside of Starmade's control?

Now wouldn't this just be great for the laptop crew? But before we do something like this, we need more sounds. So far we literally only have laser, menu, buy sound and explosion sound. And the constant, cold, dead wind...

Yes, that eerie silence... still, why not add it in now?

FYI this only works with headphones/earbuds.
