New crafting system is hard :/

Is it just me or is the new crafting system hard. I thought that it would replace going to shops and that going to shops is only for when there aren't any materials around. If I'm completely honest, I really like the new crafting system but I do not like the fact that you need so much to craft a single hardened hull. I may be doing it wrong. What do you guys think? If you know how to set up an efficient factory please tell me below.
