...it's just not working, guys. I had high hopes for this new feature, honestly, but it's nearly impossible to tell what blocks are connected inside a 3D ship now, versus when each individual block had it's blue pulsing outline around it. And... worst of all... there's apparantly no way to turn off this obnoxious pink/purple soup.

Personally I much prefer it over the old connection boxes, what with allowing you to see connections through the ship much easier, helpful for finding a rouge connected block or broken weapon group!
You can disable it by editing your settings.cfg - I'll update this comment when i'm home with the specific line

Yeah, I think there's a couple buttons for that in graphics options.
These settings here put everything back to the orange&purple boxes for me...
"draw basic selection boxes" is what you want I think.
There's other useful options there too, like Gamma (super useful for me, I need it around 2 to even see things I'm building), and "draw all connections"(for when you want to know which computer goes where without having to hit C on each one)
