Negative Review: GenXNova- My (Unfortunate) Experience

For quite some time I have been playing with my faction on the GenXNova server. However, I have decided to leave the server due to growing issues with the community and the administration.

The server is relatively well maintained despite upwards of 40 players on at times, and I think that this is in part due to the limits they place on ship and station building. There's no way this server would even be up without the limits. The admins are usually friendly and helpful. However, recent experiences with them have made me decide this server is not worth it.

After a certain user dropped my real life name in chat (something the SMD rules count as doxxing and grounds for a permaban), I took screenshots and contacted the admins over their teamspeak. I was greeted by the user and his friends, who proceeded to harass me for several minutes until I muted them. Judging by what other users on the TS said after I muted them, they were continuing to shout at me for several more minutes. Finally, the head admin returned from being AFK, and I began asking for action to be taken. However, absolutely none was. In fact, I was blamed for "making my name so easy to figure out," and told that since this was a "close community," people knowing my real name was a non-issue. I was told that action would not even be considered until it started reaching real life levels of illegality. The user continued to insult me and drop my name even while the admin was no longer AFK.

For this reason, I cannot recommend this server to anyone. The admins, while nice people, do not care about your personal information being leaked, and the community has been extremely hostile ever since this user and his friends appeared.

I actually was in team speak when this all happened - and do not belong to either of the factions nor was I really involved with the argument other then being forced to listen to it - but this is what happened - someone used his FIRST name - not his whole name not his location or anything like that in TS3 - and he rather then asked don't say that man freaked out and told not asked TOLD the admin to ban everyone in chat so they couldn't release the info into the game - the admin said he was not gonna ban 12 players just cause someone said a first name - he proceeded to freak out scream profanity's at the admin till the admin pulled him out of chat to talk to him and then finally logged out after throwing a enormous temper tantrum on the team speak and is now leaving the genxnova community

so that is what really happened not this made up story of heartbreak and sorrow he crapped out for you folks

Excuse me? I asked for action to be taken against the person doing the doxxing and no one else. I do not appreciate blatant lies. I threw no "tantrum." I asked the admin to please do something, and was met with aggression when I was told nothing was going to be done and I said I felt the doxxing wasn't being taken seriously. I then said I would leave if this wasn't taken seriously, and when the admin told me he didn't care if I left and that I should leave, I did.

just as you post what faction you are in I simply post where my faction plays

-My username isn't my name backwards
-I only asked for action to be taken against Blackhawk for leaking my name. I never said shit about everyone else online at the time being banned. Forgedrake either misheard me (don't blame him, BH was pretty much screaming in TS the whole time), or he's lying.

Knowing Lecic I don't see any situation where they would ask for that to happen, only action to be taken against the offender.

If one can provide evidence that Lecic did ask for them to be removed I would be interested in that, other wise I would say this is the result of a misunderstanding/mishearing.

I am very sad to see that you are having issues on our server, however we are a community server, and fair play is our top priority.

I certainly have the logs that would show such requests for bans to be made, but I will not be providing these, as the issue on hand seems to be with personal information, so requests for me to be releasing more information and logs seems counter-intuitive to the situation.

It is a shame that personal issues between players had to be turned into a server issue, a negative review. We, the server, the community as a whole, are not responsible for this. Regardless of whether your name is your username spelled backwards or not, it doesn't matter.

Doxxing refers to information that can specifically identity a person. Throughout this entire situation, only a firstname as been said, and I can promise you there is more than 1 person with whatever your name is in the StarMade community, let alone the world. There has been no information released that would allow someone to personally identity exactly who you are.

As a community, we work as a community. Almost all of us have shared our first names, even last names. A community server wants to know eachother, wants to be with eachother, have fun with eachother, and your post has turned a non-issue into attention that you likely did not want. Your post complains of information being shared, yet only brings to light the request for more information to be shared, it brings to light the exact information you did not want to be known.

While I do understand your concerns, and please don't think we don't care, but I will not, and have no reason to, ban players from our server for knowing the first name of another. It serves no purpose, we are not the police. Banning them would simply have them move on to another server. I understand if you leave our server, but I see not the point of ruining the experience for others as well. Banning them would not make them stop knowing what your firstname is, and there's nothing we can do to undo that. I understand your issue, trust me, but banning is not the solution for this, in fact I am failing to see exactly why we should. They could just as easily post your name on these forums, the same as you have posted again GenXnova.

I hope that this issue can be reflected to see that the issue is between 2 players, and their interactions they have had with eachother. While we as a server will not allow inappropriate activity, we will not allow trolls, and we will not allow doxxers; but, no doxxing has been done, and the conversation between you and Blackhawk was exactly that, between you and Blackhawk.

In any situation, Bobby and I as the server administration will do our best to assess the issue from both sides, and address what needs to be taken care of, but this is simply a personal issue, an issue between a player and another player, that the administration has no business in.

If you have any further questions or issues, please, let me know and we will be happy to address it, but in the current situation there is nothing to be done.
