There were negative comment ratings before. They were removed.

Which is odd. I mean, usually, something like that would be removed because people were overusing it and being abusive. But if anything, I think that sometimes people, myself included, have been a bit too polite in not calling out BS.

I have seen very few negative ratings on posts in my rather long time on the forums.

I would assume its because if you don't agree with something then all you would need to do is not click the agree button. if you agree with something is also less likely that you would need to respond. If you disagree it is much better to state why you disagree and having a button with disagree gives little info to the poster why someone disagrees.

So I would assume that not having a disagree button encourages people to respond with constructive feed back over hitting disagree which gives zero feedback.

Tbh if I disagree with something I just ignore it and click away. There is little reason to post why you disagree, because 90% of the time it's purely opinions, and you really dont need to be arguing opinions online. I mean, have you seen the threads where the suggestion actually is bad and someone/Lecic calls them out? Tends to end in a several page debate based on opinions.

I dunno, I would like to have some kind of 'negative', as they were called, rating again. That and neutrals. We need our neutrals back.
