Just wanted to put this out there.

Things that I think really limit display block potential.

    • Toggleable Text Wrap: Sometimes, floating text is useful, but a lot of times, I just want the text to STAY ON THE BLOCK, without having to exit the display block, look at where the text is, then reorganize all of it.
    • Text Size Should Influence Line Limit: Okay, so you get the same number of characters whether the text is size 0 or size 2 - the main reason I'd use size 0 would be to put down more text, but in the end, you can't - 240 characters over 10 lines.
Things that would be improvements, but shouldn't be high priority.
    • Better Format Interface: Writing the "<style>f=x,c=x</style> is a bit much, especially if you're looking for other colors. If there were buttons at the top of the interface with size and color controls, that would be much better.
Things that would be pretty cool, but probably won't happen.
    • Merged Display Blocks: It would be nice to see the display block's edge flow from one to the other (think Minecraft chests), but I have a feeling that this isn't very high on the development priority list, and probably won't happen at all.
    • Picture Displays: While cameras linked to display blocks has already been rejected (I think.), if we could display a small* picture from a file, or directly on the display block - boom, you have wall paintings.
    *I'm thinking 100x100 pixels, maximum.

Okay, so that's it - feedback on this would be good, positive or negative.

Color format: fine the way it is.

    Text-wrap: I don't have an opinion.

Merged display-edges: cool idea. Currently a wall of displays just looks awkward. Merging into into a 'Big-Screen' would really help make bridge systems look impressive (even if they remained discrete entities).

Still image capture: This is a very cool idea especially if the image would auto scale to a bank of joined display-blocks.

I want to add a few things to this.

    More Variables:
Currently we only have [shield] [shieldCap] [power] [powerCap]

What I would really like to see is:

    • [armor],[armorCap],[armorPrcnt] - armor/cap/percent.
    • [strct],[strctCap],[strctPrcnt] - Structure/cap/percent.
    • [powerPrcnt] - percentage on power.
    • [shieldPrcnt] - percentage on shields.
    • [thrst],[thrstCap],[thrstMass] - Thurster current speed/cap/ Thrust to Mass - displays your speed and speed cap.
    • [shipName],[ship(x/y/z)],[shipFaction],[shipMass] - Gives ship info.
    • all of above but for selected target
    • [sector(X/Y/Z)],[local(X/Y/Z)],[system(x/y/z)] (being variable) - Sector location/Local coords (in sector) / System coords.
There may be a few I forgot but this is a general idea I had.

I would love the ability to add pictures. It would be nice if we could offset them left right or forward to hide the display block and still show the picture. This would be great for adding names to hulls.

I would like to be able to use comparison statements in display blocks to process one (expanded) display variable against a set value and have the display block output a logic signal.

    eg;

    [shieldPrcnt] < 0.25 = true

I would like to see more formatting options like text alignment, tab stops, and bold text. I would also like the ability to do some basic math with the variables.
