MP - Salvaging of Ships at Spawn?

Last I checked, this was not supposed to happen in a crewed ship. However, when I've been building my ship in MP in the spawn sector, large chunks of my ship have a tendency to disappear. Oddly, this is not universal. I, and most people, cannot salvage crewed ships.

Anyway I think there are at least two possibilities here, a very strange, inconsistent bug or people somehow managing to bypass the system.

Actually salvage cannons don\'t work on ships with players inside.

In your cases, especially the one with \"large chunks\" is when another player enters your ship (the weapons computer, salvage computer and such) and starts stealing blocks, including using adv build mode to remove 10x10x10 chunks out of it at once.

This second thing is not allowed on any serious server, and they may get banned/punished/kicked for it when it\'s done without the ship owner\'s permission, that feature is there so more people can build on a ship at once. To avoid this, simply use a faction module, and activate it (you must be in a faction), that will assure it\'s not going to get stolen, or have intruders, it can still get shot down and salvaged by beams when you are not in it though, as it\'s still a ship, only the faction base is indestructible.

To see who\'s stealing of your ship, just exit it and look back at the core, you will see the guilty\'s name there, you can report with screenshots of that if any admin on your server cares.

    Have fun,

There is a bug where parts of your ship can dissapear but I don\'t think thats what you are talking about.

Salvage cannons cant be used unless you are outside of your ship. So just build in build mode.

Mike spelled it all out. What salvage pirates will do is access one of the weapons computers and get into Build Mode there, then start tearing your ship to pieces. Slap a faction module on your ship and it\'ll be protected. Ships that belong to a faction cannot be manipulated by anyone outside that faction. They can\'t even open your Plex Doors, let alone jump into the ship\'s core or weapon computers. The only problem here is that faction blocks cost a LOT of credits.

I just tested it (and might get banned if they can see it n the log) you can dig through anything with or without a faction unit.

I did noticed that I was unable to dig through attached turrets that had a faction unit AND an AI-unit attached.

I was receiveing a message that I needed to take out the AI first or something like it.

I am unsure wether this is due to the combo turret + AI, or just caused by the AI.

    Can anyone test this?

EDIT: This method is no longer needed thanks to the update.

Adding an AI-unit to your ship and activating it (as turret to keep it non-mobile) will prevent the bug from working.

The game will give you an error stating you need to defeat the AI first.

Apart from this, docking in a home-faction station will also prevent the bug from working.
