Say, you're making a small ship (because you want a cute little ship in which people will barely notice). It's 20m (long), 5m (wide), and 4m (tall) on the exterior. The problem is, there's barely any space for the interior.
So how about add half blocks? With half blocks, you can have at least 3 blocks height for the interior. Also, how about half wedges? Half wedges can be useful when you want a ship to have a slope but not too steep (1 rise 2 run).
