I believe it's an Ogre3d XML mesh? If so, they have a converter plug in.

Indeed. The exporter being used is
OgreMax. There is a free version, but it cannot export nearly the number of animations needed for the player model. (Limitation of six if I recall correctly.) It does, however, export to the Ogre format as easily accessible XML files, after which definitions in the animation files can theoretically be spliced together manually. Not sure about the legality of doing so, but it should be technically possible. (I'm only speaking of theory, not making a statement in support of such actions.)
If you can figure out the basic necessary components, you'll probably find the model system to be surprisingly forgiving.
There IS some hard coding regarding tilt of the arms and head, however. (Looking up and down for the head, aiming for the arms.) Something to keep in mind. Beyond that, you could do all sorts of crazy things.
