Radiospectography bobby probe idea using disintegrators to scan planets and asteroids to determine the Mineral Types.

The Probe: The idea is to be able to use a bobby AI (set to ship and sleected target) with a ship core, thruster and Power generator to target a planet or asteroid and suicide into it as in Real Life.

(maybe with an additional block for the mineral scanner)

    Use:

You undock your probe from its docking module, then target a planet or asteroid.

The Probe would then accelerate into the asteroid or Planet and explode.

A red message could appear listing the type of Minerals that can be found in top right.

IRL: (1) Deep Impact is a NASA space probe launched on January 12, 2005. It was designed to study the composition of the comet interior of Tempel 1, by releasing an impactor into the comet. At 5:52 UTC on July 4, 2005, the impactor successfully collided with the comet's nucleus. The impact excavated debris from the interior of the nucleus, allowing photographs of the impact crater. The photographs showed the comet to be more dusty and less icy than had been expected. The impact generated a large and bright dust cloud, which unexpectedly obscured the view of the impact crater.

    (2) NASA Probes to Slam Into Lunar Mountain:

NASA will be crashing their two washing-machine-sized GRAIL probes into an unnamed mountain on the Moon on Monday 17th December 2012 (at 2:28PST - that's 22:28UTC).

The probes, which have spent the last year giving scientists unprecedented detail about the Moon's internal structure and composition, will be traveling at over 3,800mph (1.7km/sec) only 6,560ft above the surface of the Moon before slamming into the side of the mountain.

good idea, but if they were to make it, it would almost be like a planetary scan that acts just like a salvage beam.

yeah a prospecting or surveying beam. that is more likely, but an impact probe would add sme immersion there :D flights of fancy you see ;)

Couple this with a new bobby feature for suicide (ram target) and you could make torpedoes as well. To mae mineral scanning useful, asteroids and planets would need to be comprised of mainly 1-2 types of minerals. What a neat idea!

Interesting idea. I assume the advantage over just salvaging a bit is range so you dont have to fly over there?

This is a sweet idea for sure. Ram the probe into the planet, get data on number of blocks of whats on the planet. Star trek style

+1 for this idea. If you gotta make the probes that is. Power, probe block, thruster, and you gotta dock it to your ship, inside or out. And you require a probe computer, that automatically fires the nearest one to the computer.

    Sweet idea.

Schema could add to bobby function called \"Probe\",wich would upon activation AND undocking ram into the center of the planet and send you the data to the local console wich would show the proportions
