    Suggestion.

Rather than preset mass dependent sounds, why not just program in a customizable sound editor for the engines?

What if someone wants to make a capital that sounds like a F1 car? Are you going to deny them?

What if someone wants a deep bass sounding fighter?

the sound could just depent on the ammount of clustered thruster-blocks...

so if you want a big ship with high pitch just make smal seperate clusters and for deep bass make one big cluster

    or something like this ...

i don\'t think that you should be able to freely edit the sound of your engine, that just wouldnt fit into the actual style of how things work

    It would entirely fit in.

The games entire premise is having extremely cusomisable ships made of cubes, heck we are even getting massive ammounts of weapon options soon, and god knows what else.

So yes, it would fit in.

With our current technology - even in the year 2000 and before - peoples build speaker systems.

Why is it bad to disable sound technology in your ship/helmet?
