Hi this is a suggestion That I would love to see implemented.
I would like be able to assign some ships as enemy usable and other ships as trading guild usable.
In my game I have designed several ships for the pirates but it's kinda weird seeing them all over the place as trading guild ships. I would like to design ships for the trading guild as well but then it would be weird to be attacked by a wave of trading guild ships (unless I attack a shop).
    what do you all think?

I believe this is planned for the future, as we're getting more than just the trade guild and pirates as factions. But yes, definitely.

No idea what factions are planned. You'll have to ask a dev, if they even know yet.

I'm not sure, but I think enemy-usable is the pirate setting and other is the trading guild setting.

Sorry to be ignorant but what's a dev?
Developer. Someone who codes or makes art or model assets for the game. There are some other things they can do but I can't remember them right now.

List of Schine Members (The Devs) can be found here, along with Moderators.

And I'm not sure if any new NPC factions are really planned... maybe a different type of pirate? The idea of the System is to be modular, and would allow people to add custom NPC Factions, for RP or even variety.

You have your pirates and your Trading guild, but maybe you want to make a "Smuggler" Pirate faction with high speed ships, or a Policing Faction. It's probably a whiles off still, but sounds very promising * ^* I just hope it lets us adjust the Spawn Rates of said factions (Why not a faction with Very Powerful, and very rare ships~?)

I do too! the game always picks the really cheap ships and I never see any of my really cool and scary pirate designs. It all sounds exciting though.

it is already possible to add new NPC factions, (create_fation_as -3 Intergalatic_police Peace_keepers) etc.

to make the NPC factions more individual i think there should be something like sub-directories in the default blueprints directory so that each NPC faction can have unique ships.

eg ..../default_blueprints/1 would contain blueprints that can only be spawned by faction -1 (pirates)
..../default_blueprints/2 contains blueprints for faction -2 (trade guild)
    etc.
and each subdirectory could contain a text file with the list of blueprints with a number next to each representing the spawn rate for them

and any blueprints that are in the default_blueprint directory and not in a sub directory can be spawned by any NPC faction the same way and with the same spawn rate that they do now so this wont break any server that wants to keep NPC spawning as it is now.

that way i could add a ../default_bluprints/3 sub directory for any dedicated ships for the -3 (Intergalactic Police) faction that i have on my server

also extra options when setting a blueprint as enemy usable for allowing it to be set as exclusive to one or more of the NPC factions would be needed

Hi the guyver, your ideas for the folders are great! I love that. But how do you make new NPC factions? When I read your post, I tried to make one to test it out but couldn't. I tried in the in game faction screens. do you have to use coding to make new NPC factions?[DOUBLEPOST=1410047448,1410046648][/DOUBLEPOST]I hope this will get the community a little more excited for this Idea If I post what I mean.
Here are some designs I made for both Pirates and Trading guild.
This is a Trading Guild Armed Freighter I designed.

Here is a Pirate ship called the Nightshade that I designed.
    Eclipse Nightshade.png
Here is a Pirate ship called the Scarab that I designed.
    Eclipse Scarab.png
And here is a view of all three from behind.

I am currently working on a Trading Guild Escort. I'll share it when its done.
I'll also share my older Pirate designs when I upgrade them with the newer weapon and shield systems.
We really need a way to designate pirates as pirates and trading guild as trading guild!

Not only do I completely agree with this, but I think admins should be given the option to create their own custom NPC factions. Like you could choose what ships they use for starters, how they behave upon encountering players or other NPCs (meaning who they are aggressive and friendly to,) be able to choose a name for them, add a description, what stations they use, what parts of the Universe they roam in, and what skin they use if we have NPC creatures in the next few updates. :P

    I just used the admin command /create_faction_as -3 Intergalactic_police Peace_keepers
the faction id (-3 in the example) must be a negative number for the faction to be an NPC one

    Isn't that /create_faction_as -3 Intergalactic_police_Peace_keepers ? Otherwise wouldn't it throw a too-many-arguments exception?

Or, better, just drop the underscores and mark your string argument with quotation marks: /create_faction_as -3 "Intergalactic Police Peacekeepers" ?

I just get an UNKNOWN COMMAND error when I use the command: /create_faction_as
I did find: /faction_create in a list of admin command but that makes me create a people faction.

just checked the official admin command list and i got the command wrong oops
    its /faction_create_as ID Faction_name faction_description

the command has 3 arguments faction ID, faction name and faction description
quotation marks would be better if you want to use bigger strings, but the underscore were ok for my simple example

Great! it worked. That's cool. Thanks the guyver.
the only problem is that the new faction is neutral. the faction menu wouldn't let me adjust the status of the new faction. is there a way to make them enemy or ally?
