Self explanatory. It would reduce space in your inventory (not weight), and it would make it easier to find in some cases.

I would actually recommend putting all the computers together in a group, and then all the modules together in a separate group. It would save more space than having computer/module groups, and would slightly reduce the chance of laying down 500 weapon computers instead of modules.

I don't think that'd be as beneficial. Because then you would have to scroll through like 20 different computers to find the one you want.

I actually think this is planned for next release. I seem to recall something about it but I can't find the reference. It's from when they merged the different lights.

We’ve introduced multi-slots for lights and their respective light rods, the delay-signal is now also sitting in a logic multi-slot. We’re planning to add controllers + modules next release.

I'm actually surprised there isn't a default control panel set up in your hotbar for each ship created, with missing components greyed out until installed.

With the actual system it does in creative. But the issue got reported here (T1037), we can hope a (far?) futur improvement on that side.
