Whilst you wait, Let us discuss what is to be expected over the upcoming week and months for our server.
As you can imagine Starmade has a wide variety of issues and this is to be expected of alpha, as a result certain things have to be changed/removed in order to combat these issues until their repaired or are less of a problem later on in the Starmade development process, as a result to these issues one of the main changes that we will be implementing is a Ship File Size Upload Limit, the way this functions is that any ship thats say 250kb+ will not be able to be bought via a Blueprint nor will it be able to be uploaded to the servers catalog as upon the file being uploaded to the server it will be immediatley deleted by an script that will scan the blueprint folder for the server 24/7, by doing this it allows the server to have less chances of crashing/experiencing lag due to huge titan ships, this also means people who are planning on making a titan must make the titan ship on the server legitamatley instead of spawning a huge structure created in Singleplayer.
The next issue that we will be combatting is the actual Catalog Economy, this is a big issue for us as the default catalog for Starmade gives many unfair advantages and requires minimal playtime for players to be rich and therefore resulting in players being bored of the server, we plan to change values of nearly all items in the catalog in order to suit the server better, but do not worry, we will be requiring feedback from the server users regarding this before we go ahead and change the catalog values. Ontop of this economy issue we will be changing the loot configurations in order to fit seamlessly in with the rest of the economy on the server allowing for a more hardcore experience.
Another issue which we would like to combat on the server and probably one of the first things that will be arriving shortly is the automation of the server, this will be done by using the recently introduced StarNet which allows us to perform commands remotley, once this is linked up and setup correctly we will be able to run regular announcements, daily user bonuses, website integration and so much more which will result in a much richer experience on our server.
Last but not least, we are going to make our server whitelist, the current users of our server will automaticaly be added to the whitelist although new members will need to navigate to our website in which will require them to fill in a form which will require a in-game username, email address and a password of their choice as not only once the user has pressed submit on the form will they be instantly added to the servers whitelist but they will also have an online account setup for the website in which at a later date they will be able to use in order to access advanced features for the server.
I\'d like to thank-you again for your patience during this downtime and for reading this but please respect the fact that the downtime is due to improvements to the servers in-game experience and will benefit us in the long run, the more issues we sort out now the less downtime we will experience later on.
