Kepler Consortium​

(Formally Kepler Mercenaries)​

We are pleased to announce that Kepler Consortium is now open for new investors and recruits!

Background:​

During the Great War, in 2067, The New UN were in need of solutions to end the conflict with the enemy before the human race took any more casualties. They appointed the most influential scientists and veteran pilots from around the fleet and created a theory. This idea would be putting the lives of billions in the limbo, the threat from the enemy was so great that they would have no other choice.​

The UN decided to green light this theory in the form of technology built solely by the scientists that were appointed to the project. No more than 100 human beings knew about this secret technology, it would come to be obvious why. ​

Over the next couple months, the scientists worked many long nights to have this technology come to fruition, and after the new earth year, in 2068, a live prototype was developed. Nobody at the time knew how terrible this tech would be, so they pressed on with development.​

Days after the prototype was first seen, a Colony ship from the Kepler Colony Fleet, located near Mars, gave off a distress signal and went quiet seconds later. The New UN scrambled all fleets to the sector, leaving behind only the basic defense craft to defend less-prioritized zones. This would prove to be a major mistake.​

Just as the UN commanders feared would happen, happened. The enemy found the correct electronic frequency in the Solar System to open up a wormhole and it laid just behind Jupiter. Earth grounded radar systems would prove useless to see beyond the massive gas giant, so the fleet was ordered to send in multiple reconnaissances fleets to evaluate what lies behind.​

What they found would have unnerved a god.​

They saw what looked like a new planet, a spherical entity with what looked like metal scrap attached to it. The official reports put this object at about half the Earth's size, but the images from the camera made it look as big as Jupiter herself. After minutes of surveying the object from a distance, the recon ships were ordered to move to within its gravitational field and record the electro-magnetics of the surrounding area. Before the order could be finished, a hissing sound could be heard on the commands ship's monitors and all systems of the entire fleet shutdown. The massive entity was drawing power from the sun and the fleet was feeling the effects of the enhanced electro-magnetics of the sun, causing a system blackout. ​

Every member of the bridge aboard the command ship fell silent. Commanders gave no orders, navigators gave no intel. This would be the first time in human history that technology completely failed to protect mankind. As the seconds felt like hours, the fleets ships began to drift quite quickly around Jupiter due to its gravitational pull. Ships began to collide and break apart. Smaller ships slammed into debris from the nearby asteroid belt. Earth's ground command was in the dark. ​

About 20 Earth minutes after the blackout, the fleet regained systems control and reoriented their ships back to formation. It was only then they could see the casualties they suffered. As the command ship rotated back around to face Jupiter, her bow crossed over a destroyed carrier, pushing the remains out into space. They could now see the entity that caused this. ​

The sphere now had a faint glow to it and it's color had gone from grey metallic-like to a pure black with a charred complexion. It hovered soundly and almost seemed to want to observe the fleet before her, but before command could receive word back that the ships had survived the blackout, the sphere unleashed a bright burst of light. ​

The entire bridge was on it's feet looking out the fore canopy windows of the command ship. They saw Jupiter's dust-cloud layer explode into space and moments later all the systems went haywire and EM readings blew well above safe living conditions on the ship. Most of the crew immediately felt this in their heads and stomachs and some started vomiting uncontrollably. Only seconds after that, the fore 8m thick glass began to decay and vaporize and the hull of the ship began to strip away like a very hasty version of rock erosion. ​

The physical recoil of the event finished the job, most ships were weak structurally and came apart like paper. The smaller ships were instantly crushed were as the command ships began to crumble up and explode. All ships located in that sector were now destroyed.​

UN Earth Command turned to all they had left, the technology that was now dubbed "The Kepler Bomb" in memory of the first fleet to have contact with extraterrestrials within our own solar system. Veteran pilots from the project, who were now highly trained with transporting the bomb, took it up to Low Earth Orbit and docked to the Rail Gun project that was started in 2020. The bomb was built to be shot out of this very gun, but not at a target within our solar system. The pilots and few scientists that came up to the gun, loaded the bomb, set the target in the systems and retreated to Mars orbit to provide better evaluation of the situation.​

Command got word and triggered the weapon once the scientists and pilots were in Mars orbit. The Rail Gun shot the bomb out and within seconds, exploded at the target. A giant black "film" filled the area and nothing was physically visual. Scanners could pick up the wreck of the fleet and could see them start to move towards the target area. Just then the target area exploded with a bright flash of yellow and blue. Jupiter began to break apart into a small nebulae like shape and half of the asteroid belt around Mars showered the side of Mars and Earth that faced it. Molten rocks from the superheated energy explosion pelted everything.​

The chain reaction of the matter involved with the explosion created a blackhole from the enemies warp drive device and mars begin to get sucked towards it. The scientists and pilots onboard the transport craft began to deorbit into mars and accept the inevitable, but just then the blackhole exploded once more, pushing all matter outwards and ceasing it's existence. The transport ship was launched incredibly fast into deep space with the crew still intact. They could see behind them, worlds colliding and brief annihilation, then nothing.​

The crew decided to cryo-sleep till their ship was either destroyed or picked up by something.

When the crew awoke, they found everything to look very... "Blocky"​

They stepped foot outside the ship and realized they were on a very blocky planet as well, as they stared out into this new world, they laid eyes upon eachother and realized that THEY were blocky too!​

Just as their minds were comprehending the new dimension of blockiness, a giant Cube of repeating blocks came crashing into the planet and out pops another blocky being, the crew has found space life.​

The unknown being began to talk to the crew asking if the were noobs or if the needed any credits. He then pointed to a floating stick outside the planets atmosphere, but clearly visible and told them to get supplies there. After a few moments, the pilot turned around, got back in his ship, and zoomed off. The crew still couldn't wrap their heads around the blockiness of everything and began to build on it....​

Enter Kepler Mercenaries,​

The crew's main skill was building technology and using it. So they made a life for themselves as mercenaries and private contractors. Killing undesirables and providing secret tech to other. They were payed handsomely.​

They knew in the back of their minds that this place would fall victim to what Earth saw and began to bring the separate societies of this new realm together to share tech and teach tactics or otherwise. The societies flourished greatly from this achievement, prompting a consortium to form....​

How We Play:

We provide many ships to our members, each diversifying into roles and built to be customizable. This will allow a level of flexibility over fleet ops and solo play. The whole system is a WIP and we hope to be able to show more about in the coming days (written June 15) Until then, enjoy this great story above ^​
