Kadonian shipyards have released their second commercial model, the Nordica Amindra. (First publicly available Nordica being budget aware Esbiorn.) Behold!

Amindra is available in the Community Content -section: Nordica Amindra

The main ship is not armed because the new weapons are coming probably sooner than later. Amindra is however delivered with four basic turrets.

    Advertisement speech:
Behold the Kadeian Legacy! Amindra is spaceous, versatile ship built with redundancy in mind. By default the Amindra is shipped with ample thrust, efficient power systems and four stock turrets. Each turret holds four top notch AMC batteries so you can safely conduct your businesses. For those wishing steadier pace, Amindra's thrust can be reduced from five easily accessible places, allowing you to precisely choose how fast your Amindra goes! Standard commodations house six crew members and two officers.

    Ship specifications:
    Mass:
    9990,6 (99906 blocks)
    Length: 199m, Height: 111m, Width: 109m
Power capacity: 21 million (1 million regen)
    Thrust: 5,75 million
    Turning speeds: 1/1/1
    Shields: 1 million (23633 s/sec and 4 sec recovery)

    Quick tour of Nordicas' history

Let's start from the beginning, bear with me! Click images for larger versions.

The first real Nordica was called Belsninger (yep, not Beliskner, which however was the inspiration for the general shape). They mostly focused in energy regeneration and reached at best half a million.

Development saw only minor changes until the Aegis introduced a whole bunch of upgrades in a significantly larger body. In retrospec Aegis was too compact to have efficient systems in relation to expectations generated by it's size.

The next major upgrade was the Numiri, the great build that hold the flag for a long time. Turrets didn't survive server changes, but as you can determine, I chose to go with tons of small ones. The extra pylons/wings were designed to provide extra protection for the core.

Problem with all these ships is poor combat maneuverability, the pylons scoop everything with annoying efficiency and completely made the design unusable with AI. I wanted something with lower profile, and so Halcyon was born. X-wings ensured sufficient systems efficiency despite of lack of pylons.

Having made three designs suitable for everything I could imagine I closed the circle and begun to redesign the Aegis. It's successor was a multipurpose triumph and received the name Esbiorn. Large box dimensions with thin overall theme makes it easy to specialize an Esbiorn for various tasks, most distinctive variation has been a cargo hauler with cut bottom pylons for docking port and large hangar in the spear section. Unfortunately no images or blueprints of this variation have survived.

Next it was Halcyon's turn. It had to be big, it had to be aggressive, it had to be edgy... so I ended up with this. I have since tried smaller, more compact, more dispersed versions but I think this, the original remake, the Mivie, is most striking.

Another noteable combat variation is the Nemiera.

Of course we can't forget the flagship, so for an event that never took place I built a new generation Numiri, which against the habit retained it's precessor's name. I had also been done with tiny turrets for a long time already, so the second gen. Numiri had as large turrets as it practically was able to carry without overdoing it.

After several attempts over the months I finally managed to create a light X-wing variation that I'm happy with. In many ways following ship, Iora, is nearly as refreshing as the Aegis was.

Iora was such success in battle that I practically decided to overdo it right away. So here's the current main WIP ship, Niera. Incorporating a collection of features from Iora, Mivie and 2. gen Numiri.

Another WIP I think is (actually/even more so) interesting is a thing I call Aesnia. In all honesty it's based on Andorian Escorts from Star Trek Online, and therefore it's not a part of the line of ships I call Nordicas.

Thanks! (I feel silly now that I have learned that the new site can handle large images. Oh well, at least my thumbnails makes the post a little bit shorter.)

I like the WIP more than the others. They are a bit flat to me. However, surface texture aside, the general outline of the ships are good, methinks. Props.

Thanks. Flatness is one of the major flaws of pretty much all these ships, as the major shape, spearhead, almost inevitably leads into that. I have attempted to lessen this by placing turrets and more recently by adding small "borders" into the spearhead, but the issue lingers.

The last ship, Aesnia WIP eventually suffered from the same issue, albeit not as badly as no surface was actually flat.

Detailing would be obvious solution (just saying so that someone else doesn't have to point it out, wondering how am I this foolish). There's however inherit spirit of Nordicas and the whole question of what makes sense to me and what doesn't. I live in the hope that eventually fix this issue, not only for the spearhead surfaces but throughout the Nordica design.

Question, is this the very fast ship you used on the server we play in? Its very beautiful and very fast, Zero to 200 in less than a sec. :)

Thanks. In practice yes, in theory no. Amindra is not as fast as the Nietz was to begin with (but highly more redundant), and the heavily increased block count also slows the ship down a fair bit. Nearly 6 million thrust however is still just as much as it sounds like.

(Hullwise Nietz is closest living relative to Amindra, only being a bit smaller and having less curve in the vertical wings.)

Oh, seems pretty fast to me :)
