Okay, so when you fight pirates and start there core overheating they drop items into space. Then to pick up the items you just have to fly towards them. This is all well and good but items in space could be a bit more interesting and challanging to get seeing as I managed to get 700m from about 4 pirates.

    1. Instead of items coming from the overheating core, how about this: When you shoot the hull (or any block on the ship for hat matter) and the block is destroyed, instead of it dissapearing forever, it drops that block as an item.
    2. Instead of flying into items to pick them up, you could have one an automatic item scavanger beam, once enabled it will automaticaly gather items in its range. This will drain power like activating a cloak does. Once the item is scavanged it is placed in your inventory or it could be placed in the ships plexi storage.

This seems a bit more realistic than flying into items to pick them up. There could be great space battles with pieces of debris scattered around, someone could discover the items floating around long after the battle ended. Adds a bit of history and depth to space, they could wonder what happened here to cause so much destruction.

What about have the storage directly links to the ship so you could access storage whilst flying and then the items go into that through somesort of magnet?

Or you could just use the salvage beam to pick items up from space, although it would be nice to be able to link a plex-storage to the salvage computer so the items are transfered into that instead of your inventory.

As for the blocks, why not place them in storages in the pirate ship, and have the stuff drop when they breaks, seeming you could easily argue that it isnt any more realistic for \'destroyed\' blocks to appear floating in space in perfect condition.
