I decided to post this thread to share my work. So I guess the first ship I'll showcase is my most recent creation.

It is an Isanth-zero inspired Trading Guild Escort. Designed to protect the Guild freighters and high value shipments. It is equipped with 4 Cc's and 2 Mc's.
so any way, here go's and enjoy:

Nice! Just wish you used lava for the thruster due to the glowing and animation qualities it possesses.

Well done. This would make for an excellent addition to both the Trading Guild and Pirate fleets.

I like the design very much. Reminds me a little of the player's ship from the old Uridium games on the Commodore 64 :)

If I may offer a slight criticism:
You say it's intended to be a Trade Guild ship? During the Space Station contest, Calbiri advised that Guild installations (and also presumably ships) should be blue-ish in colour, whereas Pirates should be more red. Your escort has both colours. If you intend to fit with the (closest thing we have to) cannon so far in the Starmade universe, then having pure red and blue versions for each faction would seem appropriate.

Of course, on your own server you can have any convention you want. I personally rather like the black & purple scheme you used on your Pirate ships :)

Thanks for pointing that out Blodge.:) I remembered the recommended color scheme about the pirates, but not the Trading Guild. I'll keep that in mind. When I first started playing Starmade, my friends made their own sever and we all have been playing on it ever since. One of my friends was the first to make a pirate ship on our server. When I decided to make some too, I kept his black/purple color scheme on most of my pirate ships too. I'm glad you like it, I think it works really well too. Ironically though the biggest and scariest pirate ship I made had a black/red color scheme (I'll showcase it after I update it to all the new systems). I made it long before the station contest was ever announced.

On my server because we have such an established theme for pirates, I decided that the Isanth-IV would be Trading Guild. I always intended to make ships for them but never got around to it till just recently. Now we have the zeros and I based my ideas off of them. The reason I've chosen to use so much red in my Trading Guild ships so far is that it is the only color that is not black, grey, or caution stripes found on the zeros. So I went with that to keep some continuity. But I'll definitely add more blue to my future TG ships.

Today's showcase will be the first project I made. I don't know how most of you started playing the game, but when I started, I learned with Beatlebear's tutorials. I followed his recommended plan to harvest a station and then sell the glass. Then I wanted to make myself a really nice hunting ship to really go rack up the the credits.

I called it the a Predator Class.
The Predator Class is IEC's basic pirate hunting model. Its a really good bounty hunter's starter ship. It comes equipped with 2 powerful Cc's, 1 Mb missile launcher, and 4 defense turrets.

    and here it is:
This is the original model before the major updates. starmade-screenshot-0049-Pred-orig.png

    starmade-screenshot-0056-Pred-br-ortho.png

The Predator was a very effective ship and IEC made a hardened hull version for those bounty hunters who wanted a Predator with a tougher skin. It also came with better turrets.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this ship!

I love the Predator class so much, It kinda became my bread and butter. I made a lot more Predator Class variants, trying to improve on the design. So I'll share some of them too. :)

Nice ship :) The original looked very "busy" around the cockpit/cannons area which contrasted badly with the relatively smooth wing and engine area. I think the updated version is better. Good Turret placement too.

Overall, the design again reminds me of something from the 8-bit era of computer games. I like the retro look and Starmade essentially uses 3D 8-bit graphics so it fits well :)

Today's showcase is a project I just finished. I had to redesign one of my ships. Many of you may have seen it on other posts. The biggest reason I redesigned it is cause I found that the AI couldn't use it. It had an energy shortage and then would become a sitting duck. Real users could simply quit using power for a few seconds and be good to go but I guess the AI isn't programmed that way. That's pretty important cause this is meant to be a Pirate ship. It got a lot of criticism when I first showed it off. I've taken some suggestions and implimented them on the redesign so I hope it's a better looking ship now.

It is the Pirate Scarab. It has two rapid fire Cc's, and a powerful Cm scatter shot cannon.
    So here it is:
    starmade-screenshot-0069-FT-ortho.png
Here is the redesigned scarab and the old one side by side:
    starmade-screenshot-0063-scarab-comparison-2.png
And a top view of them both:

A nice look from the bottom:
    starmade-screenshot-0070-FB-ortho.png
    A good back view:
    starmade-screenshot-0072-back.png

I took a Scarab_II out to duel against a Pirate Scarab_II and it was a tough battle. It turned out to be a very efficient ship now!

That is a nice re-design. Looks less blocky overall but still very sinister, especially from the back. Good Pirate ship :) What about re-designing the canopy to look like a pair of eyes? Might make the ship look even more evil? Yellow glass would look wicked :)

Thanks Blodge! I'll have to see if can figure out how to do that.
when you say to use yellow glass what that makes me think of is the old Black Tron Lego's do you know what I'm talking about? the black theme with yellow and red accents! I loved those toys!

Ah yes, I remember them! Before they went all black & white with the green canopies? Yes, they were some really good designs :)

No harm in taking some "inspiration" from them ;)

Sorry for taking so long between posts. First I got distracted by Galactic Civ III, then a couple updates for starmade came along which were huge game changers. Really I just got overwhelmed and haven't touched the game for a long time. Finally I decided to put my project of updating my ships, to new standards on hold, and just start from scratch. That way I can learn the new systems, and when I know them and am ready, I'll update my ships.
So I got on with some new ship designs that I drew up. The first thing I realized is that I need to build a new drydock station to work on my projects in safely away from pirates. Because all the updates made my old drydock completely obsolete, so I started building a new drydock first.
As I was working on my drydock, I found that I needed to build a fighter to finish it because I had planned the drydock to have custom bays for defence fighters and I needed to know how big to make the bays.

That is today's showcase: The Phantom Class Fighter.
Its pretty big for a fighter. I always intended it to have a cloak, but it just kept getting bigger to support it's power demands.
But, I think despite its size it can still be considered a fighter cause it fills that role, and it meets some key criteria which I look for to call it a fighter. Those being:
    • Primary purpose is interception
    • one or two man design
    • realitively small size (I feel the Phantom stretches the upper limits of this one)
    • short range/no jump engines
    Well anyway, Here it is
    starmade-screenshot-0079-top.png
I took it out against a couple of Scarabs which are still some powerful ships even after the updates and I was able to take them out pretty efficiently. Of course it's fighting tactics are all based on the cloak. I practically had to build the whole hull out of paper (mother board) to keep the mass down. Because of that, it's important to not take damage. It has enough shields to take a couple hits, but if they get though your shields then the Phantom gets shredded to pieces and you lose the perma cloak. It is designed to decloak, cut through the enemy shields, and deliver a devistating missile, all before the enemy has time to target you, and then recloak by the time they can fire a few shots off. Which it can do quite nicely. :)
    starmade-screenshot-0077 Missile Damage.png
Here are some more shots of the ship:
    A view of the engines

    A good head on.

    Heres a side view
    starmade-screenshot-0086-side.png
    And a good underside shot
    starmade-screenshot-0081-bottom.png

Overall, I'm pretty happy with it's performance and I think it will do well at defending it's station.

If you want to try it yourself you can download it here:
    http://starmadedock.net/content/phantom-class-by-irksome-engineering.3272/

My next showcase will be the station the Phantom was designed to defend. It's mostly done. I'm working on turrets for it now. So I hope to showcase it soon.

I think there is a shipyard subforum for this.

    But I could be wrong.

You're right. However I orriginally posted this thread a year ago and now I have no idea why I chose to post my thread here instead of there.
Maybe that section didn't exist then? Maybe I since I was planning to post screenshots of my work I thought this section fit better? Maybe I didn't understand quite what the shipyard section meant and I was nervous that this thread didn't fit there? I can't rememeber.

Looking at it now it does seem like a better place for my thread. I would move it if I can. Does anyone know if I can move this thread over there?

I've got you, moving this thread to the shipyard sub forum now. Nice use of wedge-occluded lighting on the Scarab, by the way.

    Ok,
So my station actually took forever.
    starmade-screenshot-0079.png

Just as I was about to finish it, is when they had a few new major releases like, shipyards, and the storage system overhaul. Then more life happened and now I have just barely gotten back to it, I updated it with the new upgrades and finished it.

    side View:

This is the station I made the Phantom Class fighter for. Here it is in it's bay:
    starmade-screenshot-0085openfbay2crop.png
The Main bay is a shipyard and has a nice control center. starmade-screenshot-0098shipyardbridgecrop.png
The station is large enough that walking around it is a slow process so I gave it a bay with station speeders to get around quickly with. Two of the speeders are strictly transport and two of them are repair bees.
    starmade-screenshot-0094speederbaylargecrop.png
I haven't ever felt like I'm very good with interior design, but I gave it the best interior I could. It has a nice command deck:
    starmade-screenshot-0099commanddeckcrop.png
    a med bay:

    a mess hall:

    and some crew cabins:

I'm very excited to move on to my ships now!
I hope you liked the station, if you want to download it, here's a link to it:
