Ion Cannons are they useless?

Isn't that your semi-auto torpedo ship? Wouldn't it be kinda bad if you had such a system on a ship that already had so much space dedicated to antishield systems?

Actually, the torpedo variant was Pathfinder MK4; the test bed for my removable 100x Launcher. This is Pathfinder MK 6; which swaps the torpedoes for a +200% ion cannon damage boost. I made this after a brief PVP encounter where I learned about shield tanking, the 'hard way' . This model is redesigned to knock down heavy shields then pierce medium armor with cannons and missiles.
