I'm popping in for a bit just to elaborate on my reasons for leaving.
Over the past couple of months, it seems the problems of both the community and the game have gotten worse. Any attempt to try and make things more interesting, such as a proper war, in a bid to increase member activity is usually steamrolled by either a) issues with the game itself that has led to entire factions being unable to play the game, and b) what can only be described as the cowardice of the so-called 'large' factions unwilling to actually take part in the game and instead shitpost on the forum, claim a victory that isn't theirs to claim, or berate and insult the opposition. When these people do decide to actually play, it's to install an overpowered min-maxed gun that removes all fun and competition from the game under the guise of 'adequate' protection or 'efficiency.'
The issues with the game will be fixed eventually, that much is certain. I understand that the game is in alpha, and I appreciate everything that Schema is doing to provide us with an incredible experience, but the game is in such a raw state that faction warfare, or even faction based gameplay is just impossible to sustain and maintain.
Faction warfare in game consists of griefing. You might occasionally get an actual battle fought with ships, but no. Offline raids, and internal sabotage are far too easy to execute and remove any sense of sportsmanship or competition from the game. And that's the thing, it's a game. It's not real life, your life is not on the line, so why bother with the underhanded shit?
That's why I've decided to leave for the time being, take a break from the community.
I will be back though, and there will be a reckoning when that happens.
