Had a thought about how a Hyperdrive system could work.
You'd have two new blocks to play with and customize your ship's hyperdrive; the 'Hyperspace Computer' and the 'Hyperspace Buffer'.
The computer connects to the Buffers and will let you select an adjacent Star System (perhaps using a map UI) to 'jump' to; you can select more distant star systems by increasing your ship's buffer size (though your ship's mass should probably be factored in, here).
You could only jump to previously explored systems that are adjacent to each other; meaning you still have to explore the slow way but you can get home and back nice and quick.
Once activated, your ship would automatically point itself in the direection of the destination system, and you'd be forced to sit still while your Hyperspace Buffers charge (soaking up some of your power, like Shields do when they charge), the length of time determined by your ship's Thrust/Mass ratio and/or the size of it's Hyperspace Buffers.
Once charged, it'll blast forward before warping to right outside the damage radius of the target system's star (to discourage anyone from setting up ambushes).
Once there, you'll be subject to a cooldown period before you can jump again, the length of which woudl be determined by your ship's mass and the size of it's buffer.
TL;DR: 'Hyper Jump' between stars someone's been to, takes about 20-30 seconds, use special blocks to go further and more engines to get there faster
