for those of you who want to start working on player texture packs for the new model you can actually use the new player model in-game and in the current version (without the animations however)
go to settings.cfg and the and the option should be at the top: C_USE_NEW_PLAYER_MODEL = false
change this to true and you should be able to use the new player model ingame
