Well, here we are. We've just gotten the shop and credits nerf. Suddenly, everyone is looking to make their own stuff, since money is getting more difficult to come by. It's really not as hard as it seems, but that's what this post is for! It's a basic course on using factories! Lets get started, shall we?

    - - - Preface - - -

A few things to know about factories:

    1. FactoryInputEnhancers are used to make the factory produce more. It does not make them go faster, it simply makes them output more every cycle.
    2. Recipes bought using materials are randomized. It is often a good idea to sell a bad recipe back, because you can usually get a better one.
    3. Factories upgrade recipes over time, so eventually you will be able to make large amounts of product from 1 or 2 ingredients.

    - - - Chapter 1 - - - Getting the recipes - - -

The most important component of the factory is the recipe. Without this, you can't build a single thing. There are a few ways to get recipes: A) Buying them from a shop with materials. B) Buying them from a shop using credits. C) Getting them from Pirate Station Loot. To buy a recipe using materials, go to a shop and find the block you want to make. Then select it, and click "buy recipe". You will need certain things to buy the recipe, either the block itself, or materials (such as Sand[Yellow Paint], or Ore[Processors]). To buy a recipe using credits, click on the recipe button in the shop menu.

Note: The default recipes for purchase are the ones which you use to break down/combine ores.

    - - - Chapter 2 - - - Getting the equipment - - -

This is often the most expedient part of factory creation. Simply purchase a FactoryInput and a good amount of FactoryInputEnhancers. These are the blocks which will make the items for you.

    - - - Chapter 3 - - - Setup - - -

First things first, find a planet or station which you want to use as your factory*. Make sure the structure has enough energy**. Once you have done that, you can place your FactoryInput and FactoryInputEnhancers. Connect the enhancers to the factory using C and V, and the factory will be ready to go. Simply insert a recipe into the top-left slot and then drop in the materials required by said recipe.

    * Asteroids and Ships cannot have factory blocks placed on them.

** My Home Base uses 2.5mil max energy and 1 mil e/sec to run my factories, but far less is required for smaller operations.

    - - - - - - - - -

Factories aren't as complicated as most people think, and the boons which they provide are far greater than the boons of purchasing your supplies. For large factions, factories can provide steady income when paired with a Shop Module, and can also provide the materials for creation of Capital Ships and Supercapitals.

    DAM YOU.

Giving away all the secrets lol. :) Making it easy for everyone.

    Also you should add:

Factory blocks use 500 e per tick

Factory imputes enhancers use 500 e per tick

A tick is every 5 seconds
