How to have "Decorative" Superficial damage.

For many people it could be considered a form of pride to come out of a battle all scarred up. But obviously no one likes it when they take real damage (As in internal damage and anything that requires more repairs than a patch) So what if you want simple superficial battlescars that dont weaken your ship? Simple place a thin layer of cheap basic hull over your hull and if your shields go down you will certaintly lose some of it, And as long as you dont take hits from anything more than the simple weapons of a drone fleet than you should be fine if you have advanced armor underneath.

Or you could place fake plates and shoot them once or twice with a pistol before adding shields. >_>

Docked plates with no shields, damage them as you see fit, then dock them.

I think he's talking about going into battle with undamaged docked-plates that are more easily damaged and disposable than mothership armor. Machinima could make use of rails to flip untouched skins and reveal damaged ones. Anybody ever play with battle-armor He-Man? Same deal.
