How do I stop my ship from draining power?

I have a large ship with powerful guns. I'm trying to make the ship able to fire and fly at the same time while not draining the power.

    The ship produces 1946250.0
    and it stores 15577991.1

The engines and weapon output combined is 1506378.5

The ship is producing more power than both those systems combined, yet it still drains the ship's power reserves. How can I overcome this?

Are you playing on the latest release or on a dev build? The dev builds currently contain a bug that makes shields drain ridiculous amounts of power.

    I'm using version 0.1421;build 20140404

The shields are full. The drain only happens when I fire while the ship is moving (I'm testing the guns on an inactive ship).

Well... this is the thing. Power is drained when the engines or weapons are active, more so when both are active. Your only option is to either reduce the weapons, engines or increase the power regen.

I did increase the power regen. According to the figures in the first post the ship's power production exceeds the power usage of the weapons and engines combined. I've been flooding that ship with power blocks, but it doesn't seem to do it.

Yeah, don't bother reading the power usage part. It doesn't work.

    Oh, crap :(

I guess I'll just have to cram as many power blocks as possible until I get an effect.
How much regen do you have, and how have you put your guns together? The thrust is also a key factor as well, how much do you have?

    The ship's current regen is 2295275.0 e/sec

    The thrust is 56640.9

The guns that I'm trying to hone are just simple masses of AMC blocks. Their mostly geometric, but they extend out a bit in places.

Okay, reduce the thrust of your ship to a 1:1 ratio with your mass. It should be a similar number. How many individual groups do you have? Having more AMCs grouped on one computer adds a drain penalty.

Most of my ships do this, nothing really happens. It generates just enough power to keep the ship running.

There are four weapon groups to the computer. Each weapon does over 1000 damage.

I reduced the engines and got the effect I wanted. Thanks! :)

Is the bug in version v0.15 build 20140530_062345? Because when I updated it to that, I noticed the power need increased... a lot.
