    wat does it do?
    Does it do that well?
Can you make it do that better?
What's the better-est you can have it do what it does?
now take all of that, and add speed holes and red paint.

Well, for a start avoid giant brick shapes (or the shapes offered in th build helper for that matter until such a time as you feel more comfortable with your output).

Second, as you only want it to look better, I can presume you are happy with the systems?

    1. If so, save a BP.
    2. Exit the game and EXPORT the BP (very important!!!).
    3. In SP mode find the BP in the catalogue (NOT the export - that thing is for backup).
    4. Purchase.
    5. Fill.
    6. DELETE THE BP FROM THE IN GAME CATALOGUE!!!
    7. Now... ensuring you ARE NOT in creative mode, spawn the BP and collect the blocks.
    8. Rebuild the ship systems first - doing your best to vaguely emulate a ship shape you like that sisnt a cube. Then put the hull on sparingly.
    9. It wont look amazing to begin with, but you will have systems you're somewhat happy with, and something to build upon visually, rather than what you credit as efficient systems and just covering it with hull.
Consider it a bit like making a lego house according to intructions, but finding a better house to make from those same pieces. I'd go deeper into the theory, but its something often utilised by designers, artists musicians and writers: "...all you need are the bones of the thing. The flesh is weak and can be made appeasing".

[bonus marks for the person who can find the famous quoter of that remark]

Of course, this method may not well work for you immediately, but is a good way to begin finding a style you like to build in, and a good excercise for the mind in anything similar. Hope thats of help.

Try smoothing corners to become slopes.

Also use different hull colours to add extra detail, such as hull plating or external conduits.

That should help you a bit!

Delete it and use a random CC RP ship instead. It'd look better. possibly.

Here's an easy fix you can do for it just using grey hull. I've sketched a wire frame: basically just put your box inside a hexagon using wedges. Add a little more definition to the wings and add an RP cockpit and engines in back. And you're done! Optionally, add some extra missile systems under the wings (because you always need more missiles). If you are bothered by the empty spaces, use the fill tool to fill em up with shield caps.

How to make that particular construct look good? That's a tough one. My recommendation is to build a plane-like thruster-heavy construction on top, so that it looks like one of those Starship Trooper dropships carrying a busload of marines.

This is as close as you are gonna get to aesthetically appealing.

use a minimun of two different colors for the armorplates and another one for the rest of the hull, crack up the hull with details like antennas, exausts, exposed maschinery or overlappings betwin armorplates, please try to avoid to use large areas of white blocks its eye pain for everyone who use bloom effects(like me sometimes). make the ship more streamlined.
