How Do drafts work?

I had a draft for a Thread post I'd been working on for three days, and now It's gone. Now I can't seem to find it anywhere on my profile page, or the "create thread" page. Is there somewhere I can view my drafts? Or do the drafts get deleted after 3 days or something?

Drafts are stored for 24 hours, their purpose is to prevent people from losing work by reloading a page or exiting a browser.

Drafts are saved in the reply field for a particular thread.
