Help with joining multiplayer, probably a noob question

Hey, a friend and i are trying to join a dedicated server setup by me on my computer by clicking start dedicated server, ticking the multiplayer box with my IP followed by:4242 in it and starting the game but for some reason when he tries to connect it just stays on the connecting to (IP).

This probably has a really easy solution and I'm just being an idiot but please help anyway.

If you aren\'t on the same network, then you need to setup port forwarding.
