I have a couple of pictures of a ship, is anyone talented and can build just the hull shape? I am great at details ect, but on a big ship I just can't seem to get hulls correct. Maybe compensation? I have tried 3 or 4 times and without the basic hull I'm doomed.

Try setting dimensions, taking the length, width, and height, and turning say 1m= 1 block IG.
if you don't have the actual dimensions, just take a ruler to your screen and turn 1 cm = 10 blocks (just as an example)

That looks like a 3D model- if you ask the creator for permission, you can probably get the mesh and then throw it at SMEdit, which will spit out a rough shape that has all the correct proportions. It won't be perfect, though.

You already have a perfect sideshot of the ship. You could lay a grid over it with photoshop or whatever to find a right scale. then build a "2D" cross section profile of it, on which you can expand to the sides by looking at the other pictures to get the dimensions right

    Hope that helps a bit

Find its length, width, and height if available. If not, find its length. That dimension is nearly always given. Then, use some math (or some editing program like photoshop) to find the height and width, then build your self a box. Maybe use a station for the box. Then, start building. Or just start building minus box and try to get it right. That worked with my Republic Frigate remake. That went real well, I'm proud of it.

Thank you guys for all the help, I will try and contact the original maker of the ship, if that fails I will try some of the ideas here :)

I'm sure it's not that hard. After a few tries you have been able to see what guidelines you need to start building. I absolutely recommend that you overlay a grid on your ship's images, for more precision. You could also find it useful to take your pics to Paint or whatever program you like and zoom in on them to a point where you can see it at pixel level, that would allow you to experiment on the scale of your model and the size you want it to be in Starmade. The truth is you have to through trial and error to find the method that suits your building style best.
I'm also designing a method for remaking some of the Galaxy on Fire universe's ships using only screenshots as a guide. It's rather challenging, but i'm sure it will be a most rewarding task and also quite and achievement. You can do it! Keep it up :3
