Help Spawning Items?

Hi, I'm having some trouble spawning in items. I'm in singleplayer so I don't think it's an issue of being set as the admin. I'm trying to spawn in hardened grey hulls, and I've tried every combination of words and even the item id, but none work. I'm using the phrase /give username item count, but it still isn't working

Is it giving you any errors in the chat?

Use /giveid Yourusername(Cap sensitive) BlockID# amount

Ah, the problem was I was using /give instead of /giveid even though it tells you to use /give.
