Help on controlling ship

I just got this game today and i have been having trouble playing it. whenever i press w my mouse snaps back to where it origenally was. So i can't move my mouse to control my ship. Please help i watched the yogscast play this and i want to play this so bad.

First, a checklist.

1. Make sure you are in the Flying Mode by pressing space until \'Flying Mode\' flashes on your screen.

2. Press W.

3. If that does not work, press escape and go into options, then the Keyboard tab. Make sure your controls are set properly.

4. If this does not work, I am at a loss and have failed you.

so i tried everything you recomend and i still can point my ship in the direction i want it to go
