    I'm posting this thread just as a little area where noobs can say what they're having problems with and people can post back with helpful comments. I'll start.

    I'm having trouble understanding the power,shield and weapon systems in the game. i know it tells me in the game that having batteries in the three planes are better than having a cube but it's still confusing how to make a effective battery/energy system and i just put up with a huge 5x5 cube. also with the weapons i can't seem to get them to fire fast enough. (shields i have no idea how to make a good enough shield.)

    I've seen people build stuff on you tube but I'm still confused as to what's effective and what's not effective.

    sorry for being confusing. any help is appreciated.

    Shields you need to place generators and capacitors in any form/layout.
    To make weapons fire faster you have to use the master/slave system, as an example in build mode, create 2 weapon arrays.
    Both cannons (so 1 cannon PC and 10 cannon tube-thingys per array), look at one of the PC's and hit C, there should be a bouncing box around it.
    Look at the other PC and hit V to link it. You have just slaved a weapon.
    The slave wont fire, it adds effects to the master.
    Cannons = fire rate
    beam = more range
    pulse = more damage
    missiles = shotgun effect

    There are also Effects you can apply to weapons, I suggest getting used to linking first

    The Minelayer is currently not in the game.
    Shield rechargers recharge shields, while shield capacitors give you more shield capacity.
    Its the same with power, Power reactors generate power while the power capacitors/power tanks give you more power storage.

    ok thanks i think i get that. i know how to link weapons to the respective computers but are you saying only link ONE weapon block or do i link them all, go out of my ship and press R (like it says in-game) and make one the output?

    also thanks trollerbobman.

    (edit: this being the first time I've heard a master and slave system being used in a game perspective)

    It defaults to the forwardmost cannon block to fire from, Shift+v to link groups.

    Have 2 complete cannon groups with PC's, and link one PC to the other.

    You get slow firing weapons.
    Linking and entire weapon system to another weapon system creates new weapon behaviours. That's the idea of it. Search the forums for more info. :)

    Not necessarily, there are set rules. You can only have one slave, you increase the slave effect by adding weapon modules onto the slave PC.

    You can also slave effect computers and modules to weapons to give them more effects, like explosive, Ion, EMP, ect.
    Apart from that, you can also link lights to the computer too to change the color of the projectile.

    ah OK. so the slave computer can have 100 weapon blocks linked to it and the master just two weapons linked to it but the two weapons have the joined power and fire-rate of the entire weapon cluster. (that's confusing sorry if you don't understand)

    and once again trollerbobman I'm stumped. i didn't know that. red lasers here we come!

    You can only go to 100% slave effect, so if you have 10 master and 20 slave, it will be the same as 10 master and 10 slave. IIRC the slave system doesn't change your Damage Per Second (DPS), it just changes HOW it delivers this damage.

    I figure there should be a 'welcome' section for newbies to ask questions and get welcomed in.

    Hazing would be fun too, break out the toaster, raw mince and Icy Hot...

    BTW welcome to Starmade Antimatter, hope you enjoy the game and community!

    Shield rechargers recharge shields, while shield capacitors give you more shield capacity.
    Shield Rechargers and Capacitors can be placed however you want. They are not more efficient in any special shape, so just cram them in anywhere and everywhere you can! :P

    i've played starmade for some time now. i just never really got the whole point of the system until i saw spammers for the first time. anyway thanks for your welcomes and thanks crusader and trollerbobman for your help.

    (i also second a welcome section with main topics being "how to get started" with diagrams and posibly videos so noobs and people who can't understand axis stuff are comfortable and also reassured on how to start off.)

    You can only go to 100% slave effect, so if you have 10 master and 20 slave, it will be the same as 10 master and 10 slave. IIRC the slave system doesn't change your Damage Per Second (DPS), it just changes HOW it delivers this damage.
    100% slave effect cap: Correct

    DPS not changing with the slave system: mostly incorrect: In some rare cases, such as stop/pull/push effects and range-altering beam slaves, the DPS is either dropped or not compounded by the slave system (full 100% push/pull/stop weapons deliver 0 damage (converting the damage into force to alter the target's velocity); beam-slaved long-range weapons have only the DPS of the master system, with the advantage of longer range), so in these cases, you are correct. However, for everything else, the combined number of weapon blocks should be additive. So if you have a 10-block master weapon connected to a 10-block slave weapon system, you will normally have the same damage as a single 20-block weapon system. (These numbers don't include the weapon computers. The weapon computer will be the 11th block in a 10-block weapon system.)
