Healing Ship Core?

I'm wondering if it is at all possible to fix up a ship core and make it as good as new again. Let's just say I had a run-in with some pirates a while back...yeah. So is it possible? If so, how?

Astrotechnician can fix anything that isn\'t completely destroyed though healing the ship core can need some dehulling of the ship if it isn\'t exposed

Just make yourself a very small \"repair ship\" and just make sure your core is exposed and use that small ship with a astrotech system on it. I just have a small \"hangar\" on most of my ships that are enclosed using plex doors, so the ship inside isn\'t exposed during an attack, and that way the main ships shields protect it.
