Have NPC pirates spawn in stations

    Okay so I think that a way to make the game much more fun is to have NPC pirates that will shoot you if you attempt to board the station, even after the faction module has been destroyed. I mean don't you think it's a bit unrealistic that the stations are completely empty?

    This was in the game. But not on Pirate stations. The old stations had one type that played the abandoned station role. If you entered them as an astronaut then spiders would spawn and shoot at you with lasers.

    You can still have them in your game.

    In the server.cfg enable this line:

    USE_OLD_GENERATED_PIRATE_STATIONS = true //enables spawning of old style pirate stations

    To have them spawn ingame create a new map after changing this setting.

    Besides the old double circle Pirate Stations this will also spawn a square type of station. Here is a redesigned one to give you an idea what to look for.

    Old Station

    The Spiders are also still in the game but not sure if they still spawn in the latest release version of StarMade when you enter the station as an astronaut. The old double circle Pirate Stations had four chests with loot in the bottom part of the station. Unfortunately the abandoned stations did not have any loot so there was no reason to enter and fight the spiders.

    They could implement something fun like this in literally minutes. Shopkeep mobs can already be pretty fun to shoot at (and they shoot back). Easy to have pirate stations spawn a bunch of -1 factioned shopkeeps called "Pirate."

    NPCs definitely need more attention. Hopefully, once the crew update eventually comes out, there'll be NPCs to guard the interiors of generated stations, and to pilot NPC ships.
