He's right you know since the game starts murdering itself somewhere between 500 and 1000 meters. Try scaling it down to under say 1km and you'll have more help on the matter. People have tried things over that and the game dies very easily at those levels.

From personal experience building a station over 1000m will lag a multiplayer server and drive everyone crazy when it loads in.

As I see this is a group project and sounds exciting it may help to make sure the admin centres the Ark in the center of the sector for you.
Also make sure your sector size can handle it and increase if needed.
I look forward to seeing it!

    Good luck,

    Pho

    Wow this looks cool!
Don't be afraid to build big, however do some tests and keep in mind your computers limitations. How big you can build depends on your computer.
Also, quick question, why build each induvidual arm:? Use build symmetry and you only need to build 1 arm and itll mirror the rest, Once you have the base you can then add individual touches to each one

I was ment to say 2 arms 1 long and 1 short as separate ships then just blueprint the rest in

I have a more than average computer, no graphic card to speak of (integrated graphics) i run linux and linux drivers for my graphics.
I build station well over 1km and i admit my frame rate drop somewhere toward 10fps.
Appart from that big builds are fine.

Cool running on Mac with a 2500m ship and get 8-14 fps when looking at it. And that's with 7GB of my RAM used with 50,000 chunks rendered

How do you find the new chunk size compared to the old (recent update)? Any performance improvements:? It would be fantastic if I could build something big again ^_^

The chunk update is now in graphic settings in game. As for memory settings it is in options on the first window that is opened if u want big stuff put the first one to 7000mb or 7gb of memory the around one to 3000mb or 3gb and leve the last one alone that's how I can get a full 2500m ship to fully show
