Hey guys! I'm SAVAGExPHOENIX (known in the Command & Conquer community as "daTS"). I know my display name is "daTSchikinhed" but that's before I realized I couldn't change it and just used my steam account. (Admins, if I could get it changed to my preferred display name, that'd be great!)

Alright so before I start, please know this: This is my first post on the SMD forum. I've lurked a tiny bit and played SM for about a month. I also YouTube the sweet jesus out of some of the master builders. That has led me to post my current project. I've messed around with smaller ships and such, mostly stuff I can do in a night. This however, will be my major project thread. I do concept art and ideas jotting them down in Illustrator. I've decided to take one of my favorite Illustrator projects and make it in SM, with some artistic license to make it compatible with SM.

I welcome you to my ship thread, the Greystone Fleetworks HQ!

The first ship we will be working on is the HMS Dauntless. Sporting a large internal ship bay, dozens of pinnace bays, 14 ssm launchers, 3 massive rail turrets and advanced fused-plate armor, the Nemesis class fast assault carriers are the replacement for Helios Star Kingdom’s current workhorse, the Grayson class battlecruiser. Fast assault carriers will bring in a new era, moving away from traditional combat where superdreadnoughts punishing each other in close combat and more into less costly surgical strikes. The nemesis class is sure to change the face of warfare for the helios star kingdom, as it is faster, more agile and more heavily armed than traditional battlecruisers. live fire tests have proven that a nemesis class can effectively combat capitol ships more than five times their weight in metal. The Nemesis class is a multi-role platform, able to operate alone or in a fleet, and will usher in a cost-effective and life-saving combat doctrine, ensuring the Star Kingdom’s continued ship superiority as the top dog of the alliance.

So far, I've only finished a single hangar bay, the core room and a few corridors. I believe working from the inside -> out is the best way to make this ship fully functional. I thought about modeling the ship out in 3DS Max and using SMedit to import my models into shells for SM, but it seems that using SMedit is somewhat frowned upon in the shipbuilding community. So, I'll do this the old fashioned way: by hand. :)

I sincerely hope I formatted this correctly, and I'm all down for criticism. I mean hey, if I aspire to be a "master builder", I gotta know what others thing! Any suggestions, ideas, or just comments are all welcome. :)

Thank you, kind sir. I now have my correct screenname. :)

For those curious, I have decided to model the shell of the ship in 3DS Max and import it using SMedit. I'll then make all the necessary modifications and pretty much copy/paste it onto the existing Nemesis class chassis. Between work, my kiddo and general activities such as breathing, I'd never finish the Dauntless, at least not in the next year or so. This way, I'd be able to produce a nice enough ship that isn't complete garbage in a reasonable amount of time. :)
