These would be two new blocks, One block is a send/receive block, the other would be a transparent phasable block (like water) to signify the lift beam.
Two of the send/receive blocks would be required to make a lift, both needing to be oriented to signify which direction the lift goes. For simplicity, I would suggest that they are not switchable, so a solution could be having two near eachother (similar to planetside 2, if you've played that).
Players are currently doing this using gravity blocks, but it causes orientation issues, and a block exposed on a wall. This idea would allow for blocks flush to the surface to be used, and would be a visual representation of the device as well.
