In a galaxy filled with powerful gods and fearsome monsters only the strong survive...
[DOUBLEPOST=1428595140,1428594878][/DOUBLEPOST]Although I have been playing starmade for a while now this is my first attempt at making any actual ships so if they are all completely rubbish that is why. I will be using ships that I have built on both singleplayer and multyplayer.

    The Fleet:

Mjolnir (WIP): Named after Thor's mighty hammer this monstrosity is more a brutal weapon than a ship. Its designed to be the Thor's escort and will destroy anyone who dares challenge it.

    Stats:
    Mass: 25080.8
    Power Capacity: 174719897.7
    Power Recharge: 1236704.2

    Thrusters:

    The Arachne Landing Shuttle
    (created on Ragnarok Galaxy Server)

Perfect for landing on rough terrain this Ship is designed to take cargo/people down to planets and back up. Because of its has limited shields it makes it hard to be used as an invasion ship although they are just strong enough to block out any radiation that might be present on some planets.

A general Space Speeder made to get places.

You don't need us to tell you your ship lacks detail, I am sure you are aware of this.

Might I suggest, at the very least that you make it more symmetrical, or at least use http://www.plotz.co.uk/ to make the handle semi-circular?

No I don't need you to tell me.
I'm just going to say one thing now it was originally made to be a turret. That is why it has no interior.
And thank you for the suggestion.

Nowhere did I mention interior, I get that it's a hammer, and hammers are generally very plain, but you have absolutely zero detailing on the exterior. You can still build a plain cube have it look like an actual thing.

I know what you were talking about I was just stating it because I forgot to say in the first post that it was meant to be a turret in the beginning.
And I know I'm not a good builder.
But I don't care I'm building cause I want to build and I enjoy doing it.

Brah, chuck on symmetry mode and go nuts! Detailing is super easy, try carving some Nordic patterns into the faces of the hammer head, and throwing a little more color on it, like a bit of brown for the handle and stuff.
    Good luck man!

    Ship Update.
Mjolnir. Still not finished but I have made it symmetrical and also changed the handle a bit.

That is not symmetrical. The handle is too low.

Basic detailing goes a long way. You have wedges. Learn to use them to bevel edges

hey add some wedges to the handle to give it a slightly more rounded look that could help make the hammer look even better also to the arachne add to wedges to the fangs to make them look sharper and maybe play around with some wedges (remember to save your ships current look) to see if you can get anything to make it pop out more

Just to make sure... you're using build mode, right? If so, then I really don't get why you're not using symmetry (press the ctrl key to open up the advanced build mode menu, you can select and place symmetry planes from there). If you're not using build-mode, then you should. Get in the ship and press the space bar.

Sorry if it looks like I'm thinking that you're an idiot, I'm really not. I just want to make sure that you know and use all the tools at your disposal.

when i think backwards, how i build my first ships in starmade, so is this ,,object,, better than mine xD. i think he must play it for longer time. the own design comes with the time too. starmade get more popular because the steam release. all old players know how this game was beginning.

Note all the smoothed out edges. The random detail (snakes). And all the furrows.
Its just a hollow shell, but this took only about 1 hour to make using symmetry and copy-pasterino.

This is not meant as an insult. I'm just sure you can do much better with a bit more patient and practice.
The most important think for me, when i'm building is to get some serious inspiration, before i start to build anything (even if i don't want to build a replica).
Google is your friend. Search for some random pictures and utilize the parts and details you like.
Then make some sketches using paint etc. And then start building.
You'll be amazed by your results.

Edit: Aaaaaand: Wedges, Wedges and more Wedges.
(not everywhere. sharp edges look better in some cases. Note the left border in the picture above)

Well I'm sorry to say it but none of the two hammers are anywhere close to looking like Mjølner, Thor's hammer.

I am indeed both joking and being serious.
And Dragleones is right, try using wedges more and make the shape a bit different from just a square brick with a stick on it.

    Switching to defensive stance:
Whether or not it looks like mjölnir.
The point in this was just to show what you can do with a simple object (like a hammer) to give it a fairly detailed look without much effort.

And mine is a replica of the marvel one, so its not exactly wrong :p
    This one:
Since that was the first picture i found that came along.

Edit: I didn't make a sketch so i'm not too happy about the proportions....
