    Thanks!

The name was recycled from an earlier unfinished vessel. At some point very early on in my Starmade career I started arbitrarily naming my ships after pole-arms. The Halberd was a large project that I took on too early and ultimately abandoned. I do kinda see a resemblance though.

I've started throwing together some ideas for the heavy freighter. I wanna do something different (not a long rectangle with thrusters) while still maintaining an industrial look, which will most likely be done with coloration and detailing. I really want to break away from the look that the other ships I post here have. I did about a half dozen sketches of this particular shape and think I have a reasonable look going. I'm going to try to come up with a few different shapes before I settle, but I like where this is going.

Please excuse the odd lopsided rear section; this was just a quick sketch. This was actually the second one that I did and is still my favorite.

I adjusted it to fit in with Starmade's blocks and 45 degree angles (crossing my fingers for some shallower wedges soon though). The main change was the change in the angle on the end of the "wings" (Not actual wings, just an extension of the fuselage). This is really just to get proportions down; this makes it easier to scale up later if I decide to go with it, which would be necessary as this particular structure is currently only 65 meters wide.

I played around with a bridge. I like the oversize cockpit look. The interior is set up in two tiers, with a pilot seat in the front and a copilot seat set up and to the rear. Potentially subject to change, overhaul, or complete deletion and restart.

Again, figuring out proportions. This is about 195 meters wide.

This is just the first shape (referring to the horizontal wedge) that I've played around with. Gonna try out some completely different forms. If anyone is interested in the process I can do more posts of this nature as I enter into this new project.

Feedback, ideas, and opinions are greatly appreciated.

    Day 2 (Tuesday):

    The Gastropoda.

A light freighter. Not as happy with this one as I was with the Vagabond, but I found a few things to like about it. I had to churn it out pretty quick last night, so the power system doesn't do too well keeping up with all the systems simultaneously (jammer specifically).

    Really like the cockpit view.

    Nice airlock area.

    Retractable defenses.

In other news... Vagabond MkII: Now USD-1 compatible.

    Day 3 (Wednesday):

Meet the Errant, a light interceptor.

Built with pirates/bounty hunters in mind. This particular model has punch-through cannons that do about 1000 dps, as well as 50% overdrive. I plan on creating other models with ion beams and missiles and using them to replace the Isanths in my single player game.

    Day 4 (Thursday):

    Halfway there!

I unwittingly created another pirate ship, the next step up from the Errant. I plan on testing out some different weapons systems when upgrading these ships, but the model that I'm releasing just has more powerful cannons (Plus two AMS turrets and 6x the shielding of the Errant).

    Meet the Renegade.

    Day 5 (Friday):

After two pirate ships I figured it was about time throw something together for the trade guild before they put out an embargo on all of my stations. I feel like this week is helping me refine my build process and style; I'm really liking these last few ships.

    The Cicada.

Nice looking ships. Very, very nice work.
I do have a suggestion to improve your fleet, though.

    Will do.

    Day 6 (Saturday):

The penultimate vessel in this run is another TG ship; in this case, an escort fighter. The aesthetic has shifted slightly from the Cicada, but the two still work together nicely. I really like this flat but bulky look and I'm thinking about trying to apply it to something bigger and more asymmetrical.

    The Brawler.

Soo... Day 7? Hmmm... Not sure what you mean there.

I wanted to try an interior first build.

    Hilarity ensued.

So I built an interior then fell asleep (long day). I was going to slap a shell on it the next morning. I swear I was.

Not gonna lie. I got a bit sidetracked.

    Early WIP.

Back for a bit after a long hiatus. Cranked this sucker out in a couple of days:

Features rather spartan living space, tiny cargo area, landing gear and boarding ramp. No weapons, but has overdrive and a jammer. I call it the Runner.

Also: Made this little industrial drone this morning. Kinda cool.

What is that? Looks like a glorious WIP. Movable base? or is that a ship? a platform? a defensive outpost?

It's a TG super freighter/mobile trade platform sorta thing.

It has a pair of hangars for some Cidadas. I kind of imagined them either going out near colonies as a temporary trade outpost until a permanent one could be established or as a ship that would be loaded up with freight and deploy near a cluster of shops which the Cicadas would ferry goods to and from, escorted by Brawlers.

It needs front, rear, and underside detailing, as well as an interior. It was going to have some asymmetrical superstructure hanging from the underside, but I never got around to it.

Unfortunately (in terms of Starmade stuff), in about a week and a half I'm going to be shipping out for basic, and it may be a fair while before I have a usable PC again. Before I leave I want to crank out a few more ships, so I'm going to have to leave this one unfinished for now.

If anyone wants to pick up the reins on this thing I can throw up the latest shell for download.

Basic? I assume you mean military. Which branch?
Also, good for you. Good luck, I'd say enjoy yourself but that doesn't seem to be the case in basic, so learn a lot.
On a less serious note: Dangit you. I was enjoying this thread.
Interesting prospect ... TG superfreighter. Should be a tough nut to crack, yet contain tons and tons of goodies once destroyed .... hmmm.
