So I have been reworking one of my first heavy ships and I came across a issue that I needed some help with.

What you are looking at is a hanger Module that is attached to the main ship. Within the hanger are 4 fighters each with launch and pick rails. The issue is that after I launch them if I Fleet Command Carrier recall the fighters will try to land between the two upper modules, with the same spacing they would normally have, but moved about 30m forward.

This could be caused by me having the hanger module as part of the fleet and docked to the main ship, or it could be because this was not foreseen and needs to be addressed.

Either way I could use some advice in getting this working.

Currently pickup points for docked entities don't work. Which really sucks!

So, the carrier module is docked to your ship and the fighters are docked to the module? Maybe try making the carrier module the mothership? Just a theory, but maybe that could help.

I tried that, had the same issue. So I'll place that one on the back burner for now, though I do see them making docked rail pick up a thing for the future.

Hm, have you tried to rotate the pickup block in build mode? I had this problem with my mining drone carrier and when I rotated those blue pickup blocks so the symbol on them points outward I was suddenly able to dock my drones.

Worth to try first I gather. ;)

Well they work but you can't recall to them as of the last time I tested. Has that changed?

As far as I know when you want your drones to land on a carrier after deployment with the fleet recall command, you need to dock them by hand once, so their slots will be remembered and after that recalling your drones works as expected.

I have no problems with this setup here, you only need to let the carrier move up slightly so the drones don't interfere with each other too much when attempting docking. ;)

I'll have to give it a shot, but remember that this is docked Carrier module, which is docked to a much larger ship.

Hope you get it sorted. Just out of curiosity, do you intend to make other modules that can be docked in the hangar's place? This game so far has some issues with docked entities that make creating modular vessels challenging. I find it quite interesting, and wish I really had something to add to help, but I have been unsuccessful with similar attempts as well.

This made me wonder while writing this post: If you put a pickup point on the main ship and put it above or below the one from the module or next to each other, if the ships will transfer from one point(on main ship) to the other(on module) allowing you to set the main ships point as the designated recall and get the ships back into the modular hangar.

If you tell them to target the main ship's pickup point, and then try to forcedock them into a module, it may glitch and forget the main ship docking locations.
Also you now have those dockers anyway ... so no real point, is there?

I have several weapon and Rp type Modules I am building in the pipe, though the fleet Contest is taking up most of my time atm. I'll get back to it soon enough :)
