So, one of my issues when it comes to designing huge ships, is that after putting in weapons, and the system i need for it to function, I'm not sure what else to fill the inside of the ship with other than just blocking it up with more Shields, Power, etc.

    Anyone wanna help me out?

    Toilets, bunks …

Just go around in your house/apartment and add anything of it to the captain's cabin.

And then imagine your city's shopping mall or an office building - maybe you forgot toilets or a waste bin for different wastes?

Bulkheads of armor, advanced armor, skeletal structures in the hull. Protecting the power generation systems like docked reactors and power lines because you can't do anything when your power is cut.

Harden your turret docks because missiles from ai will blast them off, you don't want to have that hit systems and you know each docked mount will be target so the armor will not go to 'waste'.

Add more guns, more power regen and capacity for the additional guns.
Add piercing, punch, and ion defensive effects.

Yeah plan to have your shields drop, and to live without your shields when fighting other big ships.

More interior rooms like rec rooms etc can be nice. Also, if you have the power left over for it a passive effect like ion can be very effective.
