    I have suggestion to add an option in faction menu to upload an image to server and have that image serve as a flag of your faction. Few most common image formats could be supported.

    There would then be "Flag blocks" which would act same as display blocks, as in they have 1 side on which there is screen. In order for Flag blocks to be grouped together you would have to place them in completly filled rectangle shape AND they all would have to be facing same direction. So screens of all flag blocks in a single group would form ONE BIG SCREEN. Each group of Flag blocks would automaticaly display on it's big screen the flag of a faction owning this ship/station/planet. Image would strech over the screen to match it's dimensions. Players could make flags of any size they want that way. Rotation of the image displayed could be changed in ship menu for each individual Flag block group.

    I think this would add nice personality to factions apart from their ship design.

    Might be better to go with png format support, since star-made uses those already.
    Only concern I would have for this is people uploading porn or other undesirables onto a server to be used as a flag.

    Seems like a brilliant idea to me as it will really promote the idea of the faction and get it's core principle across quicker as well as 'advertise' factions to new players.

    Yes I think same format support should be used to make everybody's lives easier, furthermore i think it would be a good idea to put in some sort of censorship. Maybe just a quick confirmation with the server admin/owners doing it or saying arranging for a sensible person to be the 'moderator' of appropriate contextual banners,signs and logos in the distribution of flags representing factions on that server.

    We just have to build porn with blocks if thats your only concern.

    I see it's use to display posters and wallpapers in a bar if there are ships of multiple factions docked to public docks.

    If this gets implemented perhaps with a lazy loading to not produce any lag unless you got enough fps and network for it?

    Eddie Izzard has a fantastic comedy bit on the use of flags to conquer countries. I approve but only if their is an upload-review process, where an admin of some kind authorizes the image. The kids on TF2 freak out if an even-remotely-saucy image is "spraypainted" in the game.

    seems like a good idea (the lazy loading). And a bar, or a hall with many faction flags would be cool

    Perhaps the server could automatically flag it as "Possibly inappropriate" which make only the owner see it or the faction members.

    The more peoples which support it, the more peoples are allowed to see it.
    * First owner ...
    * Then faction ...
    * Then over-18 ...
    * Then under-18 ...

    Of-course you can let an admin decide, but I think if enough players which are flagged as "At least partially sane" agree that it is not against the rules, it is unlikely that they do something against their reputation.

    I just worry about being-spamed or offline admins.
