Exiting the ship core?

Is there a way to exit the ship core without being teleported outside the ship? After practicing with ship design a bit, I've finally graduated to a ship large enough to have multiple decks and a "bridge" with the ship core. I like the idea of wandering my ship and going to the bridge to fly it. However, everytime I exit the ship core I get booted outside of the ship, and then have to make my way back inside. I'd much rather be booted back outside the core, still on the bridge.

Make sure there are 3 block space around the core. Also try centering \"C\" your ship to align it to your body so you won\'t clip when exiting. I haven\'t had a problem recently though, are you on the latest version of the game?

I\'ll try those ideas. Does it need to be 3 blocks in all directions? I only downloaded the game the other day, so I suspect it is the latest version.

Just needs to be two or three blocks on the side where you entered from. It\'s okay to stick your core in a wall.
