New defensive effect block - once activated, it boosts your power generation rate, but disables your shield regen for several seconds and drains your shields.

Useful to let ships have jump drives without having to pack in a ton of power, use Overdrive or maybe run some more powerful weapons at an increased risk.
Tiny ships could have a stable, but non-permanent, cloaking device without having to be designed solely for it, costing whatever shielding they had to begin with.

The power bonus would most likely add a multiplier to your power regen rate that weakens with increasing ship size, along with a shield drain rate that increases with ship size.

Boost power regeneration by 200%, nerf other systems by 200% in total?
Max shield by 50%, Shield regeneration by 50%, weapons by 50%...?

Nerf could last a few seconds after the buff ends to disable fast switching when you need it.

A good idea, needs some specifications :)

Shield regen goes to -(regen^2 / balancing factor,) as large ships have higher absolute regen.

Power goes to 1+ (balancing factor * (shield regen + 1) / (shield capacity * mass)) I put the shield stuff in there because smaller ships usually have a better regen:capacity than larger ships (they can normally get 10-30 seconds, while larger ships get it in terms of 1-5 minutes.)
So if we want a 50 mass ship with a regen time 15 to have a boost of 3-4 times normal, we need a balancing factor of 1500. Well then.

Maybe instead of that, it stops shield regen and converts it directly to power regen. The weapon effect could be disabling shields for like a millisecond after hit, so you cant just go in with this and wreck house. It would also have to reduce all weapon damage to 0, to not be OP, best used for multiplayer battles.

The point is that a ship can boost power to anything except shields. It's intended as a glass-cannon technique as one use for it. Reducing outgoing damage to zero would reduce utility.

What use do weapons have for shields? It would be OP if it didn't reduce damage at all. My suggestion was to bypass shields for the weapon, so if another ship was shooting it you would do damage to the systems. I don't really like the idea of an effect being designed to be defensive.

By glass-cannon, I mean you cut your defense to increase destructive power. Using it, you could spamming all weapons without worrying about power but your shields go down. Use it on drones to increase power. They get vaporized with one hit anyway.
