Docking issues...

This might be me as I have only just gotten the game. After watching several videos on making and docking turrets to ships I tried my hand at it. I have a turret that fits inside the box Turret docking box (Green Box) with the Core exposed to the Docking point. The Issue I am having is when I try to dock by left clicking (From the selected Core) I get no message other then 'Left to open/activate, Right to Deactivate/Close". If I target other parts of the main ship from the turret I get a message telling me that I cannot dock with that part of the ship as it is not a valid docking port. Also When I went to the Shop to buy the Docking module I could not as the shop called it old tech and would not sell it to me.

So any suggestions? as I have no clue as to why I cannot dock my turret.

The old docking blocks are not functional anymore.

The docking system was replaced by 'rails'.
Check this video for details on how to use them.
