I found if you dock, and then edit the power on your ship, you'll take on the max load of what you're docked to. Well, at least my faction space station. My shuttle has three separate lines of 5 power blocks and suddenly had 44014500 max load.
Reproduce: Dock to station, remove and add back a power block. Check level of load stat.
